About Mililani

Mililani is located in the center of the island of Oahu, in the central valley between the island’s two volcanic mountain ranges, about 16 miles (26 km) north of Honolulu. Oahu’s first planned community.

Today, the area boasts its own shopping centers, parks, schools and a public golf course.

Named one of Money Magazine’s best places to live in the U.S. in 2005, Mililani ranked as an All-America City in 1986 (the only community in Hawaii ever so designated). According to Pacific Business News, Mililani was the third wealthiest zip code in Hawaii in 2006.

In the past, the Mililani area was primarily plantation fields. The first houses in Mililani went on sale in 1968.

Mililani is made up of Mililani Town, west of H2 Freeway, and Mililani Mauka, east of H2 Freeway. The majority of Mililani’s retail and commercial centers are in Mililani Town.

New homes are sprouting up in Mililani Mauka, like the pine and cane they replace. The town’s first generation of children are now raising their own children here.

In 2010, the population of Mililani Town was 27,629, and the population of Mililani Mauka was 21,039 (total population of Mililani was 48,668).
